Strengthen Position for Mimer SQL in Automotive Industry A significant increase of the number of Mimer SQL installations was recently made at Volvo IT’s facilities in Gothenburg, Sweden. The Mimer SQL database management system has for several years played a key role in the plant, e.g. in planning and control of the flow of material to the assembly line, and for quality control of the assembled cars. Mimer SQL Engine is included in several production systems, but also in systems for quality control and time reporting. The systems are developed by Volvo Information Technology (Volvo IT), which also is responsible for the operations and maintenance of most of the systems at the Torslanda facilities just outside Gothenburg, Sweden. The increased production in the plant has caused the recent decision by Volvo IT to increase the number of Mimer SQL licenses at the Torslanda facilities.
- The recent order from Volvo IT is yet another proof of the successful use of Mimer SQL in systems with thousands of concurrent users, says Per Harsem, CSO, Upright Database Technology. – As a supplier to Volvo IT, it’s very satisfying to know that we’ve been able to meet all their tough availability and performance requirements during almost two decades, concludes Per Harsem.
The increase of Volvo IT’s Mimer SQL licenses was made in 2003, and the parties has agreed not to publish the order value.
