Mimer SQL embedded in CellaVision’s successful blood cell analysis systems
The Swedish high-tech company CellaVision embeds a Mimer SQL database in their CellaVision™ DM96 and the new CellaVision™ DM8 blood cell image analysis products.
CellaVision is a provider of ”intelligent” software for digital image analysis. The Mimer SQL database contains the blood cell analysis knowledge database and is also used for storing all the blood cell analysis results. CellaVision™ DM96 is used by many hospitals and other medical centers in the USA and Europe.
A large neural network at CellaVision’s headquarters that constantly ”learns” how to analyze different blood cells generates all the image analysis knowledge. This knowledge is then included in the CellaVision™ DM products. The total size of the Mimer SQL database for the neural network is hundreds of Gigabytes, while each CellaVision™ DM customer stores up to 20-30 Gigabytes of analysis data. The US FDA approved CellaVision™ DM96 in 2004, and examples of customers are University of Texas, USA, and Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading, UK.
